Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR), our 32nd president, contributed significantly to the history of the United States from 1900 to 1940. During his four terms in office, FDR changed the way that people viewed the role of federal government. While addressing the problems of the time, he put forth legislation that he believed would help to solve the economic and social hardships that people were going through. First elected president of the United States of America in 1932, FDR faced the daunting task of dealing with the Great Depression. Millions of people were out of work, banks were failing, the stock market had crashed and there was literally, no food on the table.
Franklin Roosevelt was a very influential and important president in American history who had an immense impact on the American economy and social policy during the 1930’s and 40’s and throughout the future of America, he also shared some ideas with the author John Steinbeck. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. He drove America out of the great depression and through the second world war.
After summarizing a little bit about her family life and accomplishments we got into the discussion of World War II. She told me that she was just a small child around the years World War II began. For most of the duration of the war her age ranged from age six to eleven. I asked her where she was when she heard about the news on the Pearl Harbor incident in 1941. The day she heard about Pearl Harbor she was at her father’s barber shop on a Monday afternoon with her two younger sisters.
Theodore Roosevelt is one of the American presidents who are remembered for the changes that they brought or made in this nation. He was the 26th president of the United States and he is remembered for his transformations and important quotes which are useful today.
