Roosevelt was an important part of history because without the contribution of Roosevelt the depression would have lasted a lot longer than it did and took more of a drastic toll on everyone. He was paralyzed from the waist down. He spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair due to polio. He was then elected for president in 1933. Many people inspired him to do what he did, most being his own relatives,including Theodore Roosevelt and his lovely wife Eleanor.
