Roosevelt was an important part of history because without the contribution of Roosevelt the depression would have lasted a lot longer than it did and took more of a drastic toll on everyone. Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States. He led us out of a huge Tragedy the Great depression in 1936. In 1921 at only age 39 Franklin D. Roosevelt was diagnosed with polio. He was paralyzed from the waist down. He spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair due to polio. He was then elected for president in 1933. Many people inspired him to do what he did, most being his own relatives,including Theodore Roosevelt and his lovely wife Eleanor. The urge to be better than herbert hoover jump started his career.He was in office from 1929 to 1933.
