Franklin Delano Roosevelt Research Paper

The 32nd United States president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was born on January 30, 1880. His family was wealthy, they made fortune in real estate and trade. James Roosevelt and Sara Ann Delano Roosevelt only had one child, Franklin. They lived in Springwood and while Franklin was growing up, his surroundings was priviledge and a sense of self-importance. Before at age 14, he was educated by tutors and governesses. He attended Groton School for boys in 1896. Franklin did not fit in with the other students. The other students were in athletics and Franklin was not. Four years later, after he graduated, he attended Harvard University. He was not a smart student, only a C student, but he was a member in editing the Harvard Crimson newspaper, Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. So, he received his degree in only three years. This job was the same as his idol’s. This job helped his to put himself to the presidency. He founded the U.S. Naval Reserve but he was restless in the position as second chair to his boss, Josephus Daniels. Later, he decided to run for the U.S. Senate for New York, but the start was not good because he lacked the support from the White House. He also can’t get support from President Wilson because he had too many political enemies among New York Democrats. In politics, he took to Washington politics and thrived on personal relationship, so he found a personal and professional success. Franklin became an attractive man to women and in 1914, he became in relationship with Lucy Mercer, Eleanor Roosevelt’s social secretary, and they became into a love affair. Eleanor found out the affair and gave Franklin a final command to stop seeing Lucy or she would file for divorce. He agreed to her, but he secretly continued to see Mercer over the
