Franz Kafka was an interesting person, so interesting, that saying he was only interesting is an understatement. Throughout Kafka’s short, forty-one year life, he experienced many things. These things allowed him to write his complex parables such as The Trial and The Castle, extremely acclaimed ones at that. These many things influenced him and his attributes as a writer. His upbringing, work, love, depression, and family all affected his work both majorly or minorly. Most of Kafka’s experiences affected him greatly. Franz Kafka was born on July 3, 1883, in Prague. At that time Prague was the capital city of Bohemia (now present day Czech Republic). Bohemia was one of the countries that was in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Kafka was born into a well-off middle class Jewish family. At one point in time, Kafka was apart of a family of eight.
