I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the four major texts and short stories throughout this semester. However, Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis stood out among the rest. It is truly an intriguing novella, one that generated numerous existential questions and lively class discussions. The novella is a bizarre story that lends itself to multiple interpretations, which I found compelling. The Metamorphosis’ major themes of Alienation, Isolation, Communication and Transformation tied in well with the other texts we read during the semester. It also helped me comprehend other texts such as Kate Chopin’s The Awakening on a deeper level since I was able to compare and contrast both of the main characters transformations and how other characters treated
