so they became forever friends. In both the movie and the book Freak dies because his heart grew too big for his little body. Both the book and the movie are amusing. Both Freak and Max were bullied. Both in the book and the movie Max had a disorder with his body that prevented him from playing sports.
The book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is a book about two boys that become best friends and have a special connection. In the movie, The Mighty, there are several scenes the same, but there are also many different scenes. The movie portrays several scenes differently than they are in the book such as the lunch scene, the return of the purse, and how Freak rescues Maxwell. In the movie, the lunch scene is different because of how Freak is playing with the gruel, and making jokes to impress a girl.
There were a lot of things that were the same in the book and movie Freak the Mighty. There also was some difference. Some of the difference weren 't really a big difference, so some people may not have noticed them. Some of the other differences were big differences so most people probably noticed them if they paid attention to both. Some difference I recognized were that in the book when Max and Kevin were getting the purse out of the sewer they hooked it to a paper clip and string to pull it out, in the movie Max went in the well to get the purse.
In Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick, many words of the wiser moments occur throughout the story, and shed light on a possible theme. The author shows these moments to introduce the theme of the book from these words of the wiser moments. In the text Killer Kane ( Max’s Dad) says to Max “ You have to be careful, extra careful” while they are walking down old, wooden steps. This piece of text shows a conflict between the main character and another character because Killer Kane doesn't trust Max.

In the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Grim and Gram were out of character they usually aren 't yelling at each other. Max was down in the cellur and heard the whole conversation. Grim was thinking of buying a gun then Gram started crying on how he shouldn 't buy one. They also talked about how Killer Kane can just take it right out of his hands and shoot him and how he was on patrol. After that Grim went down to the cellar where Max was, and grim usually tells Max to clean his room and put his dirty socks and cloths inside his closet
After reading chapters 1-7 in Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick I can infer Max doesn’t have many friends if any. I can infer this because on page 22 Gram says “You and Kevin were making friends?” then Max thinks to himself making friends? What a wet idea that is. This tells me that Max isn’t very enthusiastic about making friends.

I had watched the film adaption of Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend prior to reading the book, I was very aware of major differences from the get go. The to main categories that I could see differences being placed in were emotion and action. Many aspects of the book were changed to emphasize both either emotion or action for the film. Considering pieces of literature cannot be easily transferred to the screen, few of these changes were very necessary.

When comparing a story to a film, there are three ways that they can be translated. These translations can be a literal translation, traditional translation or radical translation. The literal translation can be defined as, "reproduces the plot and all its attending details as closely as possible to the letter of the book" (Cahir, 16). The traditional translation can be defined as, " maintains the overall traits of the book (its plot, setting, and stylistic conversations) but revamps details in those particular ways that the filmmakers see necessary and fitting" (Cahir, 16-17). A radical translation can be defined as one, "which reshapes the book in extreme revolutionary ways both as a means of interpreting the literature and of making the
