Frederick Douglass was born In 1817 In the south where slavery was really tough on black people who were forced to work and do things they didn’t want. In the eye of the white man a black people were seen as dirt not as human being. Frederick was raised by the Hughes family who owned slaves. I guess Frederick was the lucky black person because the way the family was treating him was at least good for a slave owner. Even though black people were slaves douglass sort of had freedom growing up in a family that treaded slave a bit better than others. When Douglas was about the age 12 he was expressing a lot of skills even though slaves weren’t allowed to read he had a strong ambition of learning how to read and write. At one put when Mrs. Auld wasn’t having a good day. She separated Douglass into a lonely place. Where he doesn’t have a book or anything that has to do with learning. Even sometimes She would send someone to check on him if he is hiding a book or reading something that could be knowledgable.Douglass showed Mrs.Auld slavery and education were incompatible with each other. Since Mrs. Auld was teaching Douglass the alphabets. Douglass adopted a lot of new learning skills as a black kid he found a way to make friends with people example teachers and kids around his age. He used take bread that was left over in the house, and he used to go around with a book on his hand and read. Douglass was learning a lot of new things. Sometimes when he goes out and have a have chat with the white kids about being free and how the slaves should have right.
