Frederick Douglass was an African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. Frederick wrote the “The Battle with Mr. Covey” from The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” in 1845. The narrative became the best saler during the time. Slavery is the big theme in Douglass's Narrative, since he wrote his book to convince people that slavery was wrong. Frederick Douglass makes a big deal of the fact that his narrative is true.
