Is an attended audience evident? Explain your answer. The attended audience would appeal to those who are in slavery, witnessed it, who went through it, and who are against it. Frederick Douglas is a former American slave and an aggressive abolitionists. He changed the way Americans viewed slavery and pushed for freedom. Douglas was a firm believer of equality in all people; there was change that needed to be made and he wanted to be the one to make it! Why is this document important? This document is important because it acknowledges how corrupted the ‘old world’ really was, also with factual evidence to back it up. It helps me personally understand why America was such a shameful and arrogant nation. I feel as though they did not want to befriend southern people since this is revolved around Virginia and how they were wrongful treated by others they thought they trusted! This speech was very religious as in Christianity! Frederick kept asking is this really what God would have wanted us to do for he is not the one to establish such slavery and is actually against it. People got offended if you try to tell them I know what you are feeling, like you have ever been starved to death, or whipped like a piece of scrap off the road. To the point I still do not understand why we criticize or keep damaging what was left for us to build upon. Martin Luther king Jr., Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman, and the list goes on …..If we are hurting the people then what was all these wonderful speakers and writers purpose for changing the way America viewed certain ethnic groups for us to go back to the same ways. They did not die fighting for us to just make a decision upon ourselves to go back to no freedom, slavery, and so much more! I was raised to always look forward, remember where I came from, and never look back always keep moving and learn from my
