“Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.” That is a quote by Anne Frank that she wrote during a very dark and scary time in her life. That dark and scary time is known as the Holocaust, a massacre of people of the Jewish faith. Although many people believe that all people have evil in their heart, I am not one of those people. I believe that all people are really good at heart even after all of the horrible things that have happened. A reason why I believe all people are truly good at is because even though so many bad things were happening and even though they knew it was a huge risk people would risk their lives to help others. In the movie The Book Thief one of the main things that takes place is the Hubermann family take in Max who is Jewish and they hide him in their basement. In the movie The Book Thief, there is a scene that takes place during Kristallnacht where there is a Nazi soldier wearing a Nazi uniform helping a Jewish man named Max escape (The Book Thief). Also in The Book Thief, the character named Hans Hubermann gets called to go and work with the Nazi’s. Up to that point in the movie you already know that Hans is a good guy and that he is against Hitler and the Nazis. Also, in Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girl it states, “The majority of Germans supported Hitler or acquiesced in his government, though many were disturbed by his methods” (Frank).
