Both elves and dwarves play a big part in The Hobbit. You may not think so, but they actually have a history. They are both part of multiple books, plays, and movies. Most people think that elves and dwarves are really short. If you think that, your wrong. They each have their own different characteristics. Elves and dwarves have many similarities and differences.
Elves were first created in german fairytales in the 1500s. Elves have been a part of many different plays, novels, and movies. A few example are Shakespeare’s play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Hobbit. When most people think of elves, they think of the elves that work in Santa’s Workshop, but not all elves are like them. Dwarves were created at about the same time as elves. Dwarves have been in anything ranging from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to The Hobbit. Both elves and dwarves come from Germanic mythology and folklore.
