Fate is Decided for Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare wrote “A pair of star-crossed lovers take their lives” (Shakespeare Prologue 6). William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo & Juliet focuses on two teenagers who fall in love from competing houses. Both families don't like each other and have a feud. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. Capulet and the Montague expect their families to be the best of the others. The prince will eventually call off the feud, but a few things happen before that happens. A way Shakespeare shows how hate can lead to bigger problems in the future is the feud between the Capulets and Montagues. 3.1 Mercutio teases Tybalt and gets cocky, then gets killed by Tybalt. “O Romeo, Romeo brave Mercutio is a deal’ (Shakespeare 3.1 Line 10). …show more content…
“Nay as they dare”. I will bite my thumb at them” (Shakespeare 1.1 Line 36). It shows how the servants hate each other and don't wanna be nice since they are from opposing houses and don't like each other. This overall paragraph shows how hate plays a big role in the play. Another way Shakespeare portrays how family expectation impacts the characters is the fact that they know about Romeo and force Juliet to stay inside. She gets a vile from Friar Lawrence to fake death to get out of her own house and away from the captivity and the rules of her parents. “When presently all veins run dry” (Shakespeare 4.2, Lines 95-96). This shows how the vile will make her fake her death and follow Friar's plan until it is complete and she gets to live “happily ever after” with Romeo. This next quote shows that even though Romeo is a Montague, he will still be as sweet. What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet” (Shakespeare 2.2 Lines 43-44). It shows how Juliet does not care what house Romeo is, she will always love him while her parents don't know about the relationship between Romeo and
