Despite life presenting the freedom of decisions, we are all compelled to make a challenging choice at some point in our lives. Take, for instance, Mrs. Acres business of homemade pies, where she is challenged with the demand of her pies outpacing that of supply for her business. Mrs. Acres has three prearrangements for options to rectify the situation: a joint venture with a breakfast chain, a joint alliance with a frozen pie company, or to expand her business to a larger facility, where she has complete control and …show more content…

Acres the benefit of giving back to her community. This scenario allows for Mrs. Acres to apply the controlling aspect of management into the situation. As stated in an article I read, controlling can be viewed as "activities taken by a business or organization to guarantee their actions lead to success" (O. Ferrell, R. Gatewood, L. Ferrell, & R. Taylor, 2010, p. 9). For example, by employing more workers, Mrs. Acres opens the opportunity for more individuals from her community to become gainfully employed and have the chance to work directly under her leadership. Although the business has grown to employ her closest friends, this venture provides a chance for her friends' friends to benefit from the growth of the company. Acres' appears to gain more for herself versus that of the current employees. With removing herself from the day to day operations, she places this responsibility on the frozen pie company, allowing more time to dedicate to the production of her company. Allowing the frozen pie company to retain responsibility of the connection with supermarkets, this presents the chance for the pies to be distributed throughout the nation, to an assortment of supermarkets. All the while, this proposition releases Mrs. Acres from a plethora of daily duties, to only being delegated to managing production. Maintaining the production of the company allows Mrs. Acres to utilize her conceptual skills. This action is explained as "the ability to process all information accurately and remain assured her skillset of decision making benefits the company" (O. Ferrell, R. Gatewood, L. Ferrell, & R. Taylor, 2010, p. 16). All the while, she is able to maintain the company name, recipes, and guidance, without the stress of outsourcing where to have the pies distributed.
