The second Us-vs-Them is created or attempted when they compare themselves to the freedom riders and that they can stick up for each other and do what the freedom riders did which was make a difference and something that should've been ended a long time ago.

-To me I think the boy put his hat on after he seen the drawings the classmates had drawn and passed around because I think he was embarrassed and he didn't want his classmates see him cry especially because he was the more popular well-known kid in his class.

-The point of the line game was to show the bad things the students have gone through. The "Line Game" showed what they had passed through in their short lives. Students saw reasons to be nice to one another because of their shared, common experiences. The "Line Game" gave Gruwell the inspiration to introduce the journal to her students. She used the "Line Game" to make the students aware that their lives were important and that they had already survived difficult challenges.
