"A pair of star crossed lovers will take their lives." Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeares is a play about two lovers named Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet that come from two households that are enemies. Romeo enters a party hosted by the Capulets, meets Juliet and fall in love. Later on Juliet is forced to marry, so she fakes her death by drinking a potion. Romeo finds her body and kills himself. As soon as Juliet wakes up from her potion she find Romeos body and also kills herself. With both of them dead the families no longer are enemies. The play consist of two different themes. One is fate controls our destiny the other is freewill controls our destiny. The theme of Romeo and Juliet is fate is in control of our destiny. The theme is revealed when Romeo enters the Capulet's party. When Romeo first sees Juliet, he decides to ask a servingman who she is. In act I, scene v, Romeo asks "What lady is that which doth enrich the hand Of yonder knight?". Romeo asks this to the servingman to find out more about juliet and who she is. This is important because Romeo falls in love Juliet and foreshadows there soon to be relationship. This proves that fate is in control of our destiny because if Romeo had not went to the party he would not have seen Juliet or fall in love with her. …show more content…

Friar Lawrence sent a message to Romeo explaining that Juliet drank a sleeping potion to fake her death. In act V scene iii Friar John says "I could not send it—here it is again—Nor get a messenger to bring it thee". The letter had not been sent because of the people in the town were"So fearful were they of infection¨. This is important because if the message would have got to Romeo, he would not have drank the poison. This shows that fate is in control of our destiny because no one had any control of where the infection
