The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years' War, was a conflict between Great Britain and France that took place from 1754 to 1763 and was fought primarily in North America. The war began when France and Great Britain both claimed the Ohio River Valley, a region located in the western part of present-day Pennsylvania. The French began building forts in the area, which angered the British, who responded by sending troops to oust the French. The war also had a significant impact on Native American populations, who suffered greatly because of the conflict. The French had several motivations for entering the war, including a desire to weaken the British Empire and a desire to avenge France's defeat in the Seven Years' War. The French provided crucial military and naval support to the Americans and had their own interests in the Americas. The French hoped that their support for the American cause would help them regain some of the territory they had lost from The French and the Indian War. I think it was a great decision made by both French and the Americans, because if they would not have made this choice then later both would’ve in a great depression both economically and in demand equality. The battle of Saratoga in 1777 was series of battles near Saratoga, New York that American forces fought with Britain forces. The victory of the Americans at Saratoga in 1778 was significant as it convinced the French to join the war on the side of the Americans. The French had been interested in supporting the American cause since the beginning of the war, but they were hesitant to do so until they saw that the Americans had a real chance of winning. The victory demonstrated to the French that the Americans could defeat the British, and it gave them the confidence to provide military and financial aid to the Americans. In 1778, France formally recognized the United States and signed a treaty of alliance with them. This alliance showed the victories they had together in 1780 Siege of Charleston, and in 1781 The battle of Yorktown. I think this was a great move played by both French and the Americans, because now they were much stronger than before which became stronger force to attack British with for their independence. The Treaty of Paris was a peace treaty signed in 1783 between Britain and the American, French. It recognized the independence of both and
