Friar Lawrence was the antagonist all along. Friar Lawrence was the main antagonist because he didn't care how his actions affected others he also did not give good advice to Romeo and Juliet even though he was the adult in the situation plus he was the main cause of Romeo and Juliet’s death. Friar didn't care about how his actions affected others; Friar Lawrence said Romeo does not love Juliet for her personality but for her looks. “Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, so soon forsaken? Young men's love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes.”(410) This shows that he didn't care how it would affect Juliet to be married to someone that only loves her for her looks; if they had a longer marriage they would end up hating each other; this shows that friar Lawrence married a thirteen-year-old girl without her parent's permission; as Capulet says “And too soon married are those so early made.
