Friar Lawrence is a side character in the play who is a cleric. He marries Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence helps organize the meeting up of Romeo and Juliet. He helps support the storyline. Without him, some of the more important events with Romeo and Juliet would not have happened. He is a necessary character in the play. Friar Lawrence is vital for the storyline to play out. It shows that he is well-intentioned because he is helping a girl that he doesn’t really know. Friar Lawrence is a caring person. “Now must I to the monument alone. Within this three hours will fair Juliet wake. She will beshrew me much that Romeo Hath had no notice of these accidents. But I will write again to Mantua, And keep her at my cell till Romeo come.
