Reese Parmeley Ms. Antle English 1 13 March 2023 Who Is Responsible For The Tragedy Romeo and Juliet Friar Lawrence should be to blame for the Deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence married Romeo and Juliet during an ongoing feud between the Families. The Friar also created a plan to fake Juliet's death. This plan would lead to Romeo killing himself at the sight of Juliet´s death. If Friar Lawrence had not married Romeo and Juliet secretly or devised his plan the two would still be alive. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Friar Lawrence is responsible for Romeo and Juliet's deaths because of his carelessness, bad planning, and poor decision-making. Friar Lawrence's carelessness was one of the leading reasons for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence tried to slow down Romeo and Juliet's relationship. ¨These violent delights have violent ends.¨ (Shakespeare 2.6.9). Friar Lawrence tries to advise against Romeo and Juliet’s fast-moving relationship. Even after his advice the Friar still decides to marry Romeo and Juliet. In this quote, Friar Lawrence talks about how he gave Juliet the potion to fake her death. ¨Then I gave her a sleeping potion which so took effect as I intended, for it wrought on her the form of death.¨ (Shakespeare 5.3.223-224). Friar Lawrence understands how the potion would make Juliet appear as if she is dead. The friar also allowed her to take the potion before Romeo would be notified of the plan. This little planning from Friar Lawrence is the reason for Romeo and juliet’s deaths. For this reason, Friar Lawrence should be held accountable for Romeo and Juliet's deaths because of his little planning. This bad planning from Friar Lawrence is one of the main reasons Romeo and Juliet’s love would end in
