Although there were many people to blame in the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Lord Capulet’s harsh decision for Juliet about her marriage makes her feel very desperate for a solution. Juliet then goes to Friar Lawrence for a plan, which resulted in her death. Therefore Friar Lawrence is to blame.
One of the factors to their deaths is Father Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Paris and making harsh statements. “Hang thee, young baggage! Disobedient wretch! / I tell thee what get thee to church a Thursday / or never after look me in the face” (III.v. 161-163). Juliet is upset because she just found out she has to marry Paris by Thursday, so she goes to Friar for help. “Do thou but call my resolution wise, / And with this knife I’ll help it presently” (IV. i. 53-54). Juliet is saying in this is if he doesn’t help her find a way out of this she will kill herself. This is important because it shows that Juliet REALLY doesn’t want to marry him and it also shows Friar now has to come up with a solution for her in getting out of this marriage. Friar now finally gives her a plan on what she should do so Friar explains what he’s gonna do “Thou shalt continue two and forty hours, / And then awake as from a pleasant sleep” (IV. i. 105-106) In this part Friar is explaining that Juliet will wake up in 42 hours but during her sleep every bodily functions will be stopped so it will make her look dead. This is important because Friar Lawrence could 've chosen a different way of handling this situation better instead of handing this 14 yr old girl a vial of poison which makes you look like you’re dead. He could 've easily told her to run away that’s what they were going to do after she wakes up so I think Friar could of chose a better plan than this. In this play we discovered that Lord Capulet had some things to do with the deaths of Romeo and Juliet but it wasn’t just Lord Capulet who had something to do with the deaths but also Friar Lawrence had a lot to do with Juliet 's death like giving her that poison to fake her death. If the Montagues and the Capulets stopped fighting along time before this a lot of people could have not lost their lives because of this. So Friar saw an opportunity to fix this family feud and he married the two thinking it would help but it only made it worse. This is just like wars going on today in the world, we all don 't agree with each other and we fight and kill each other because we think it 's going to help our problems but it 's just going to make it all worse in
