The book Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are six deaths. Decisions Friar Lawrence made throughout the story made me believe that he is to blame for all of the deaths in Romeo and Juliet. Friar’s interference in the feud between the Montagues and Capulets made things worse even though he was just trying to end the feud and unite everyone in love. “Whether your intention is to help or hurt, you never know if the outcome will be what you intended it to be.” -Molly McKay. Though Friar says he had good intentions when he got involved in Romeo and Juliet’s love he also said, “These violent delights have violent ends.” to Romeo just before he marries Romeo and Juliet. Tybalt hated Romeo because he was a Montague. Though Tybalt especially hated Romeo because of his affection towards Juliet. Once Friar married Romeo to Juliet, Romeo becomes more comfortable around the Capulets, he tried to talk to Tybalt and tells Tybalt he loves him, which just made Tybalt angrier, leading him to kill Mercutio. After the death of Mercutio, Romeo killed Tybalt out of frustration for Tybalt being able to live and Mercutio dead. If Romeo would have been more careful around Tybalt the fight that led to the deaths of Mercutio and Tybalt would have not occurred. Friar Lawrence made the potion and made the plan to get Juliet out of the arranged marriage by faking her death. Friar did not think clearly when he made the plan. He went for the “quick fix” by just getting Juliet out of her family completely. The reason Friar married Romeo and Juliet to begin with was to unite the families, but by taking Juliet out of her family and making them believe she had died caused more sadness for the Capulets and no solution for the feud.
