The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s renowned play, frustrated countless audience members over the years. Although the ending could have been avoided by any means, there is one person that makes sure it ends tragically. Friar Lawerence, although trying to help the two houses, only exacerbates the situation by marrying the two. However, the Friar can’t take all of the blame. The parents of Romeo and Juliet play a big role in ensuring the play ends tragically. Friar Lawerence and Romeo and Juliet’s parents are the ones to blame when it comes to the death of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence, consumed in his impulse to end the feuding, consents to marry Romeo and Juliet. The Friar gets caught up in Romeo’s lustful request to marry Juliet. He ignores the fact that Romeo could easily stop loving Juliet like he did with Rosaline. Once the scheme gets too big and Romeo is banished from Verona, the Friar proposed a plan that will eventually resulted in the death of the lovers. The Friar decided to write to Romeo instead of going to Romeo himself or alerting Balthasar of the situation. Their ancient feuding was the result of Romeo’s banishment. The Capulet house had a resentment for the Montague house, which led Tybalt to act viciously towards Mercutio and Romeo. Romeo’s detestation for Tybalt after killing his best friend was immense. Since Romeo is a very round character and acts on his emotions without thinking, he killed Tybalt. If it had not been for the programmed hate for the Capulets since birth, Romeo would not have killed Tybalt and been banished.
