Frida Kahlo's work was influenced by traumatic physical and psychological events from her childhood and early adulthood, including her husband. She often brooding and mopy subject matter also deals with questions of her identity. She mixed with Mexican and German. Her works are often categorized as Surrealist because of her sometimes bizarre and disturbing themes, she was not interested in subject matter subconsciously. Later, she was forced on painkillers. She has now become a cultural icon and is especially in her home country for her focus on her Mexican identity. Frida Kahlo de Rivera is famous for her self portraits. It expressed her disappointment towards her operation. he was hoping this surgery would free her from the severe back pain but it failed. Just like her other self-portraits, in this painting Frida expressed the sadness that she cannot change her own fate. People said it expressed her frustration of her failed surgery. Others said it portrays her incapability to control her own destiny. And some people said it has sexual implication and expressed her struggles in different relationship. Kahlo was influenced by her Mexican culture, which is used of bright colors and dramatic symbolism. A few days before Frida Kahlo died on July 13, 1954, she wrote in her diary: "I hope the exit is joyful and I hope never to return - Frida". The official cause of death was given as pulmonary embolism,but there are sayings she died of a possible suicide. Frida Kahlo's fame has been growing after her death. Her Blue House was opened as a museum in the year of 1958. In 1983, Hayden Herrera published his book on her, A Biography of Frida Kahlo, which drew more attention from the public to this great artist.
