Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who caused the arrival of improving the feminist movement in art. She became one of the most debated artists of the 20th century. She grabbed the attention of everyone with her life story and the way her paintings represented what was going on in life. Frida Kahlo mostly painted self-portraits. She had a way of reflecting what was going on in life at that time. Frida was handicapped after a bus accident that caused her pain for the rest of her life, but she did not let that stop her, she used it as an inspiration.

One strange thing about this is that Frida didn’t think she would become an artist. She wanted study medicine so she could become a doctor, she contracted polio at the age of 6, which left her physically damaged by shortening her left leg. In 1925, Frida was in a tragic bus and streetcar collision accident. She left severely injured. She had to fight through the pain it caused her for the rest of her life. The accident left her very hurt, physically and emotionally. During the following years she suffered miscarriages and abortions. She also went through thirty surgeries on her spine, leg, and foot.
