The Bond of Brotherhood “Lennie broke in. “But not us! An’ why? Because…because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that’s why.”
In the book Of Mice and Men, two men are traveling around California to find work during the Great Depression. They have known each other for a very long time because Lennie’s Aunt Clara wanted George to look after him. George, the leader, is the person who chooses where they go and work. Lennie just simply follows along and does the work. Lennie has a mental disability that causes him to forget things quickly, not talk properly, and do things that a normal man wouldn’t do.

In the novel of “Of Mice and Men” power and friendship is the very bases of the story. There are many people with power in the book but I specifically was interested in Curley’s power. Curley is the son of the Ranch’s boss and he is very spoiled. He does not listen to rules and usually gets away with any trouble he makes or gets into.
In “Of Mice and Men”, Steinbeck is writing about loyalty and friendship. George was very loyal to Lennie even after all of Lennies scandalous acts, Curley had wanted to make sure that his wife is safe, and another example would be that Candy’s dog was Cany’s best friend. Although Lennie and George had their differences, their friendship and loyalty towards each other shines throughout the story. Lennie had said “You said I was your cousin!” and George had replied with “That was a lie.
Making a sacrifice to a healthy friendship Of Mice and Men is a story written by John Steinbeck, a story about two men named George and Lennie. In the story George and Lennie have been kicked out of the town Weed because of an incident that happened to Lennie in weed Ultimately, George stays with Lennie through thick and thin while on the ranch miles ahead from Weed. Lennie appears to have trouble there on the ranch he kills the boss's son’s wife and kills a puppy that was given to him. Friendship is extremely important in the novel because in John Steinbeck's book Of Mice and Men he uses the struggles of friendship to illustrate the difficulties for the migrant workers' survival during the 1930’s. George is a character that display friendship by caring for Lennie in the book Of Mice and Men.
“Good Friends” or a “Healthy Friendship” does not include any of these things, on the contrary, it's the complete opposite. In the book “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, two characters are introduced; Lennie and George. Men from two completely different worlds; Lennie, built tall and bulky, muscular, but not so bright. George; short and skinny, “scrawny” but he is intelligent, way more intelligent than Lennie. These two men spend their lives traveling together, working and hoping one day they can buy their “dream farm” and settle down, not having to work anymore and make profit from the land and animals.
Of Mice and Men was published in 1937 during a time of bi-racism between the caucasians and the african americans, and the apathetic Great Depression, which may have served as inspiration. In the novel two opposites attract, a gargantuan but mentally challenged man by the name of Lennie, and a small, nimble, and intelligent man named George. Suffering from a mental illness Lennie gets into trouble when he 's alone, but George always saves him, George knows Lennie doesn 't do anything, “out of meanness” as he says. Undoubtedly the reader assimilates that Lennie kills a young lady, said to have done so accidentally. Furthermore without any control George was forced to kill Lennie.
In John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, the era of the Great Depression in the 1930’s is revealed through a simple story of ranch workers who hope to improve their lives. Migrant workers, George and Lennie, have a friendship that is based on trust and protection. The other workers lack the companionship and bond that these two men have. In the novel, the absence and presence of friendship is the motivation for the characters’ actions.
In ‘Of Mice and Men’, written by John Steinbeck, friendship is portrayed as one of the main themes in this novella and a very important part of people’s lives. Steinbeck also portrays friendship by highlighting the importance of friendship and showing how its presence and absence can trigger many positive and negative emotions. Its presence creates hope, feeling of companionship and a sense of responsibility. In spite of friendship’s presence creating positive feelings, its absence does the complete opposite. It generates a feeling of loneliness and isolation.
In John Steinbeck´s Of Mice and Men, the ideas of companionship and friendship are addressed greatly. George and Lennie are companions who have traveled alongside each other for a long time. They have to keep moving because Lennie causes trouble, and essentially strains their relationship. Although they have issues, they have a deep connection which benefits each of them. Steinbeck´s Of Mice and Men uses motifs and characterization to show that companionship is beneficial to individuals.
In John Steinbeck's tragic novella, Of Mice And Men, he conveys the importance of understanding each other. John Steinbeck once wrote in his journal that “In every bit of honest writing in the world… there is a base theme. Try to understand men, if you understand each other you will be kind to each other.” Steinbeck illustrates this theme through the way in which George, Lennie’s companion, Curley, an aggressive man, and his wife, a shallow woman, interact with Lennie, an immensely strong man with an underdeveloped mind. In John Steinbeck's novella he expresses this base theme of “try to understand each other” by comparing the result of true understanding to the apathy, violence, and the detrimental effect that avoidable misunderstandings have on the characters.
In John Steinbeck's novel Of Mice and Men there are a lot of themes. The themes consist of friendship, loneliness, discrimination and dreams. All of these themes are important, and play immense role in the outcome at the end. The major theme is that friends stick together; unconditionally; this is demonstrated through Lennie and George's actions in Weed, in the bunk house, and in the aftermath of Curly's wife's death. One example of true friends sticking together is exemplified when George stays with Lennie after Lennie's actions in Weed.
A true friendship is something that everyone wants to have but not everyone can have it. in the novella Of Mice and Men the author shows the true meaning of friendship and these 2 best friends Lennie and George shows that they have Friendship and they love each other, care for each other and always have their backs i give some really great evidence and try to show you the relationship these guys had. Through the book George one of the two main characters he shows how he cares and takes care of his good friend the other important character Lennie, who was a mental disability but he still loves him but he does show some tough love. In the book George has been shown numerous times that he takes care of Lennie but the first quote It 's because Lennie was in trouble he was about to die,but his friend does something really beautiful “Couldn 't we just lock him up the poor bastards nuts{steinbeck 87}”In this quote he 's trying to convince the guys who were about to kill him by saying he didn 't know what he was doing,This quote means that he really cares for his friend and he 's trying to save him.
