The theme of “Of Mice and Men” would have to be friendship because without a friend you eventually develop loneliness, which loneliness is still a problem today because of it one of the problems that cause depression which can drive people to the edge and causes people to lose their lives. Psychology Today talks about how living alone increases chances of suicide and how increased loneliness increases stress levels. (Marano). It’s a problem that still affects people today and we have yet to solve this problem. George is the complete opposite person than Lennie when it comes to what they like but when it comes to what they want then they get together and non-stop talk about it. Especially Lennie. This actually shows friendship because George can’t see another solution that doesn’t involve them being on the run from the law. What happened here was that Lennie ended up killing Curley’s wife which then when the rest of the ranch found out they went on a manhunt to find and kill him. Curley actually wanted to torture him to death. So what George ends up doing is sparing him from this fate by killing himself. The book states, “Lennie said, "I thought you was mad at me, George." "No," said George. "No, Lennie. I ain't mad. I never been mad, an' I ain't now. That's a thing I want ya to know."The voices came close now. George raised the gun and listened to the voices. Lennie begged, "Le's do it now. Le's get that place now.” "Sure, right now. I gotta. We gotta."And George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close to the back of Lennie's head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied. He pulled the trigger. The crash of the shot rolled up the hills and rolled down again. Lennie jarred, and then settled slowly forward to the sand, and he lay without quivering.”(Steinbeck 54). He killed Lennie to spare him from a frightening fate. To give a summary of one of the senses would be when they got captured by a guy they thought they had killed and start to get tortured by him. Alexxx, one of the characters, decides to try his best to save his friend being hit on the back with a really big lava rock by ramming into him with the chair. Now him being attacked and injured his friend Joel decides to grab massaging lotion and put it on the ground. Alexxx seeing the location dodges it but the bad guys don’t and end up falling and dying. This shares a common theme with “Of Mice and Men” because these are two stories about friends having each other's
