Bourne, George. From A Condensed Anti-Slavery Bible Argument: By a Citizen of Virginia.1845.
Summary of Source:
Slavery is not mentioned in the bible by that name or any other laws such as the constitution. They are only being described and written in another way. This implies that having slavery composed of many crimes such as kidnapping, is a form of going against the law from god. Slaves were described as a property. They did not have freedom, and instead were forced to listen to their owners. Therefore this caused them to be unable to own anything except to be the property of their owner.

Summary of Source:
Hinton Rowan Helper believed that slavery will have a negative impact on the south’s economy and it will eventually lead to a downfall. The slaves only benefit those who are wealthy, or those capable of affording slaves. However, this leaves small scale farmers at an disadvantage as it will harm the small scale farmers who are not as wealthy. This can consequently cause the South to be weak and hold limited ability to compete with the North.
Source Context:
Hinton Rowan Helper was born in the south to a small slave owning family. He was a Southern American critic and writer. He published his book in 1857 in the North, but it was written in North Carolina four years before the start of the Civil War. It mainly addressed the downside of slavery to the South and helped to gather more supporters in abolishing slavery.
Source Point of View:
The book is addressing individuals of Southern states who are not slave owners. This brings a call to action plan where it unites the non - slave owners to help with the abolishment of slavery. It helps to explain the downside of having slavery and how it will eventually lower the South’s power and ability. Helper, who is an abolitionist is biased towards the North in hopes of wanting to end slavery. He is also an American southern critic of slavery. Therefore, the benefits of having slavery is not mentioned in his
