Have you ever wondered how blacks gained their right to suffrage and how gaining that right opened a door for them in congress? The frontier of African suffrage allowed Hiram Revels and Blanche Bruce to get a spot in the U.S Congress around 1870-1881. They both represented Mississippi, and both served different number of years. As you know that this frontier of African suffrage allowed Bruce and Revels to get a spot in congress, but it also allowed Africans and other different races to gain more rights. It took centuries for Africans to gain the right to suffrage, they had to fight for it. This frontier has change history a lot and is a huge impact on voting today. It was a process for Africans to gain their right to suffrage, they had to fight a lot to gain that right. Hiram Revels and Blanche Bruce had the opportunity to be a part of congress because Africans were able to gain the to suffrage. The right to suffrage didn’t only allow Hiram and Blanche to gain a spot in congress, but it also opened a door to other races and gained some rights for them. Africans didn’t get the right to suffrage so easily they had to fight and went through a process to get through it. The civil war was a huge part of this historical event. It may have been a rough time during that period, but it showed that Africans fought hard to gain their right to suffrage. Africans didn’t have It so easy. Seeing that they were able to gain rights for other races shows how much they wanted to gain rights especially the right to suffrage. Africans may have struggled but they pushed through it.
