Food is one of the most important needs that humans require. Our need for food begins the very second that we are born and continues until we take our last breath. As the population of the planet continues to rise it becomes more important that we produce food with more quantity and quality than ever before. The purpose of the paper will be to make the argument that genetically modified organisms are the perfect choice to feed our hungry world. To reinforce this argument the paper will use three main sources of information. The three sources that will be used are that GMOs are safer for the environment, they increase yields substantially, and they increase the survivability of a plant in different adverse environments. As a society we have …show more content…
In economics class students are taught that the supply of land is completely inelastic. Because of the inelastic supply of land, the agriculture industry has to create ways to increase the yields of crops on single plots of land. Organic farming produces smaller quantities of food on a single section of land. This does not seem to be an issue with the genetically modified crops used today. The population is growing more and more, this requires the industry to increase yields on the land already …show more content…
There are defiantly benefits of using other forms of crop manipulation. If there were no benefits there would be no argument for them. One example the paper could use is that organic farming increases the self-sustainability of people. This gives people the ability to grow some crops on their own to decrease the dependence on others. The question of which is better is pointless because both have benefits, one can see the two industries fighting each other all the time. This paper needs to take the other side of the argument, refute it, and show why GMOs are
