Everybody has ambitions that they hope to one day achieve. Whether they are short-term or long-term, goals are what help build the foundation for a successful future. I have goals myself, both personal and professional, that I intend to accomplish. These include acquiring a 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) for the current school year, officially declaring a college major and continuing to build upon my current knowledge base.
When one is a senior in high school, an abundance of factors are taken into account when college officials and scholarship committees make decisions. These factors include community service, extracurricular activities and possibly the most important, academics. With academics playing a large role, a 4.0 GPA could certainly help to make an impression. Although acquiring a perfect GPA in high school may seem trivial to those with an already respectable GPA, a higher average could help oneself considerably in the long-run. It helps shape one’s future for better or worse, depending on the circumstances. With that said, I’d like to declare a major officially before the beginning of my freshman year of college. Declaring a major is a significant decision that many find to be stressful as a teenager. I believe it’s important to create and execute a plan in order to succeed, which is what I intend to do.
