Abraham Lincoln said, “If you are determined to make a lawyer of yourself, the thing is more than half done already.” Throughout my life, people have tried to tell me I would never amount to anything. I’ve spent my whole life determined on proving them wrong. The child of immigrants who never went to high school, I’ve become the first to graduate and even think about going to a college or university let alone make it a reality. In high school, I did well, maintaining a 3.0 GPA throughout my 4 years. However, being at Valencia has unlocked my true potential as a student. My first semester, earning a spot on the President’s list with a 4.0 GPA. Now, a little over half way done with my Associates Degree in General Studies I plan on utilizing Valencia’s Direct Connect to the University of Central Florida to continue my education at UCF by earning a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies. After receiving my Bachelors, I will work as a paralegal to gain experience in the legal profession. Afterward, I will advance to law school to pursue a Juris Doctor to be able to practice law as an attorney. …show more content…

Instead of directly enrolling into law school and accumulating a debt I will spend the rest of my life reimbursing, I want to be certain this career is right for me. That is why I will work as a paralegal for a couple of years, to familiarize myself with the legal profession before diving head first into it. Additionally, it will build my confidence in my legal knowledge and the legal system which is critical as I’ve never met an insecure lawyer.
