Life before and after Father Gabriel was at the age of 7 when he knew that he wanted to become a priest in his future. He loved going to the church and at the age of 13 he traveled to the capital city of Colombia called Bogota to train for the priesthood, and that was against his parent's wishes. Gabriel also liked to help other people in need during his childhood, he got this wonderful habit from his mom. When Gabriel was 27 years old he traveled to the Vatican which is located in Italy. Gabriel assigned to work with an organization called for the Claritin. This organization helped poor children and was made of thousand of the Catholic priests who worked to change children's lives in more than 60 countries. Marlon's first thought is to run with the others. But then he quickly thinks. He has not earned any money. The men tricked him. He shouted that he was giving up and a soldier ran quickly to him. The soldier immediately sees that it is a child and asks Marlon how old he is. Marlon tells him he is 15 years old and the soldier tells him that he is persecuted to be a prisoner and brings him to their military base. At the military base, the soldiers take short notice of Marlon. They are not allowed to hear him, but they ask questions about his family, where he comes from and why he joined the paramilitary group. The next day, a woman from the social service comes. She first asks Marlon if the military treated him well. The woman of Marlon to one of Gabriel's centers. As a former child soldier, Marlon is included in a state program to help former child soldiers into society again.
