The Kalam Cosmological Argument and the B-theory of time INTRODUCTION Inherent in the Kalam Cosmological Argument, as defended by WIlliam Lane Craig, is the assumption of the A-theory of time. The A-theory of time accepts the view that there is a past, present and future, where future moments become increasingly present, and present moments become increasing past. Time exists very much like the way we experience it. The alternative view, the B-theory of time, sees time as a totality, that all times exist equally, or are equally real. Moments in time are ordered/related in terms of earlier-than, simultaneous with and later-than.
The example I used was about Star Wars on the external video (part 2) by Kirby Ferguson. After watching the video, it was easy to discover that Star Wars was not an original idea. The movie is an example of how taking ideas from others allow you to make something great. Nearly 40 years after the first Star Wars film debuted, it is still one of the most biggest franchises to this date. There are many scenes throughout the movie that resembles scenes from other movies.
Scientology is similar to that of Hinduism by which both recognize a relationship between present life experiences and earlier incarnations. Scientology envisions that the elemental problem of salvation is that people have forgotten their true self or spiritual nature. Their beliefs lie in the ARC Triangle and the Bridge to Total Freedom. In Scientology, the ARC Triangle approves that the goal for salvation and infinite survival is through achievements in this life of knowledge and understanding of how the universe works.
“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...” This quote which is seen at the beginning of every Star Wars movie almost immediately sparks pleasant memories in the minds of everyone, but contrary to what is being said the events of Star Wars are not as far from home as you would first assume. It is due to this closeness that Star Wars could be The American Epic. This closeness is from the inspiration for the events of Star Wars, the values Americans can share with the characters within, and the outlook on the world seen within. George Lucas used many diverse sources for inspiration in his story many of which came from real events in history such as the Vietnam war, Nazi Germany, and more.
Epic stories lead people around the world to heroic characters and stories of their deeds. Epics today are harder to come by as they tell of ancient pasts that have mostly been forgotten. The genre that epics fall into usually only exists from works hundreds of years in the past, however recent works like J. R. R. Tolkien’s 1937 book The Hobbit, and George Lucas’s 1977 film Star Wars have shown that epics can still be created in modern times. Star Wars is a shining example of how epic traditions exists in modern literature through both its storytelling, and its legendary hero, Luke Skywalker.
A common questioning of a higher power beyond the physical realm lingers in society: Who and what is God?. However, many of these theological questions cannot be answered until we, of course, die. Due to human’s innate curiosity to understand the forces beyond their own, especially in terms of religion, humans find their own reasons to believe in God in the process of discovery. Religion is a sense of belief and worship to praise a higher power (God), and it provides a guide for human beings to have the opportunity to come together and live as one image of God’s children. “Imagine There’s No Heaven” is an article in which Salman Rushdie, the author, presents an atheistic view where religion is pointless, and a higher being is non-existent.
Colonizing Mars It takes nine months to get to the red planet. Nine long months in a spaceship without much food, oxygen, water, little living space, and only other people to keep you company. Colonization of Mars is not okay because the planet is deadly, the trip is long, and the atmosphere is frigid. Mars is very deadly, unlike Earth.
John Calvin, was a theologian/ecclesiastical statesman, but was also known for being a journalist for his time and is widely credited as the most important person in the second generation of the protestant reformation, even today. Being born on July 10, 1509 in France, John Calvin was a law student at the University of Orleans when he first joined the cause of the Reformation. In 1536 he published the landmark text Institutes of the Christian Religion, his hope with the text was to standardize the theories of the Protestantism. John Calvin was the successor of Martin Luther as the preeminent Protestant theologian but unlike Luther, Calvin was known for his intellectual, unemotional approach to faith, and his religious teachings emphasized the sovereignty of scripture. He lived in Geneva briefly until he was forced to leave by the anti-protestant authorities in 1538, but was then invited back to Geneva in 1541.
Let Life Live Spiritual Guru, Osho once stated, “Life should not only be lived, it should be celebrated”. This ties into The Fault in Our Stars by John Green because, Hazel only lived her life safely, until Augustus came along and showed her all of the excitement her life could have, if she let it. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a story that takes place in a small town in Indiana where teenager, Hazel Lancaster, is suffering with terminal cancer, which causes her outlook on life to be incredibly negative, until Augustus Waters; a boy who went from cancerous, cancer-free, to cancerous again comes along. He changes her life for the better, and shows her the importance of living and leaves her with that importance when he passes away.
Black holes are areas in which huge amounts of mass are compressed together, creating a gravitational field so strong that when it crosses the black hole, not even light can escape. They are the final stage for stars 10-15 times as massive as our Sun, because after they explode into a supernova, the gravity causes them to collapse into themselves. They shrink and compress mass until the former star’s volume is at 0. When this happens, they become infinitely dense and the star’s own light becomes trapped inside. The black holes can only pull in objects of similar or lesser mass, since their gravitational pull is only as strong as their mass.
Do you believe In Unidentified flying objects? Unidentified flying objects or UFOs are suspected to house aliens. I believe that UFOs and aliens are real and should be investigated by scientists. Aliens are the beings that are the ones who fly these UFOs. There are many people that believe in UFO and Aliens because of events that have happened.
Colonizing Mars Mars is often voted by people as being the most likely place for humans to colonize after we are done with Earth. This is often said because of Mars’s similar size to Earth and similar climate. However, Mars might not be the best place to go when we decide to make our first extra-terrestrial home. Whether you believe we should colonize another planet or not, evidence proves that moving to Venus is both logical and cost effective. There is much more promise in visiting Venus and much more we can learn.
Within the trilogy of Star Wars there are two sides that are constantly fighting against one another. There is also something referred to as The Force which is often viewed as the sacred or godlike. It is easy to see different religious beliefs within this trilogy, not just one particular religion. Within two Star Wars movies A New Hope, and Rogue One, these eight aspects of religion can be found. Learning to master the Force requires faith, ritual, and ancient wisdom—which are hallmarks of institutionalized religion.
“Cosmos” is needed to prevent “chaos”. In fact, in developed religious systems of this kind, there were three cosmic levels: not only earth and heaven, but an underworld as well. The axis mundi, the vertical feature, was seen as the centre of the world and as linking together all three cosmic levels. Instead
Creation is something people have different opinions about worldwide, this is a topic that has many different theories. There have been many different ideas that people have thought of in order to try to get people to think that it wasn’t God who created the earth. Almost always the new story got its ideas, based off the story of God’s creation of earth. Some of these crazy theories even try to show that humans were originally monkeys, before they were humans. God spent a lot of time and thought when he was creating the earth, and for people to deny it and not give God any thought is very sad.
