For this essay, I chose to write about Galileo Galilei. Galileo was born on February 15, 1564 in Pisa, Italy. His parents were Vincenzo Galilei, who was a musician and also a music theorist, and Guilia Ammannati, there was not much known about her. Galileo was the oldest child of six . When they moved to Florence, he attended his first school, Camaldolese Monastery in Vallombrosa. When he was old enough to chose where he wanted to go to school, he chose to attend the University of Pisa to study medicine in 1583. Galileo was fascinated by mathematics and physics. He wanted to become a professor but since his family could not pay anymore, he dropped out of the University before receiving his degree in 1585.
Even though Galileo didn't finish college he still continued to study mathematics through little teaching jobs. During his little teaching job, he began his 20 year study on “objects in motion”. Galileo ended up publishing a book called The Little Balance, and in the book he described the hydraulic principles of weighing small amounts. He earned a little fame from this book, and from this fame the University of Pisa offered him a

The trial lasted about a year. During that time, he was not imprisoned and also was treated with respect. In one last attempt to rid Galileo of his beliefs, he was threatened with torture. Galileo finally admitted he had supported the Copernican theory. He was convicted of heresy, a belief against orthodox religious doctrine, and spent his last years on earth under house arrest. Though he was ordered not to have any visitors and not to have his work published outside of Italy, he disobeyed both. In 1635 copies of the Dialogue were published in Holland. Still under house arrest he wrote Two New Sciences, which basically explain his life’s work on strength of materials and science of motion. He had become blind and ill before his book was published in Holland in
