The renaissance was a time of great innovation and is considered “the bridge between the Middle Ages and modern history” (wikipedia.org). The renaissance is considered a bridge because of how people started to think, and how it influenced literature, science, philosophy and art. At the time of the renaissance, the knowledge that was known about space and astronomy was limited and some theories were erroneous as well, such as the theory that planets in space orbited around Earth. Astronomy was limited because of the lack of inventions and technology. An example of limited technology at the time would be the telescope, which could only magnify images about three times. This resulted in misconceptions from scientists and allowed them to have finite observations. His father, Vincenzo Galilei, was a renounced composer, musician, and music theorist, and as a result, his family belonged to the nobility. Just like his father, Galileo learned to play the lute as a child and eventually became a proficient lutenist. Vincenzo was required to leave his family for a short period of time and move to Florence, Italy, due to his hectic music career. Around the year 1569, Galileo began his education at the public school in Pisa where he was taken care of by Vincenzo’s friend Muzio Tedaldi since Vincenzo was away for work. Just before the end of 1574, Galileo and his family moved to Florence to reconcile with his father and that’s when “Galileo started his formal education at the Camaldolese monastery in Vallombrosa.”(biography.com).
