As a parent of an 11 year-old daughter, you would research a lot to be sure if there is any side effect or problem with the Gardasil vaccination. Parents are responsible for their children and must be wary not to blindly follow their doctor 's recommended vaccine schedule. They cannot rely or expect their doctor to know everything. They should do their own research and ask plenty of questions about devastating effects. Although I believe vaccines are central and essential components of public health, there are two kinds of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. The first one is Gardasil, approved in, 2006 and the second one is Cervarix, approved in 2009 by the FDA. Although Gardasil protects against four HPV types (6, 11, 16, and 18), and it is approved for use by females aged 9-26 to help prevent cancer of the vagina, cervix, anal, vulva, also genital warts, there are many reported side effects(KRUSZELNICKI, 2014). Most HPV types cause benign warts, but just 15-20 kinds can cause cancer. Two members of the HPV family (16 and18) cause some 70% of cervical cancers (Carlyle,2014). There will always be someone who is allergic to something or does not respond properly to vaccines. There is always something going on that we don 't know about. We know medicine is not one size fits all, and there will be risks for some people. Developments in HPV vaccines is important, not only for HPV prevention efforts, but also for the overall continued success of vaccination as one of public health 's most valuable
