This is a sculpture that consists of 17 bronze panels, three longhorns, pointed wire, and a Texas star that represent different aspects on the history of the trail. The sculptor Troy Kelley has added his own artist interpretation to this history, and has held to the facts of the trail as well. For me it was a unique piece because it was really tall with many panels, each having different stories to tell. The artist, Troy Kelley is a painter and sculptor in Salado, Texas.

C.P.Ellis believe that blaming black people would ease his bitterness about his financial situations. He joined the Klan in hopes to be a part of something greater and it made him feel needed. However when he came to the realization that he was being used by wealthy people . Ellis started to re-think his personal motives.
In Gary Soto’s story, “1, 2, 3,” he recounts an even dealing with prejudice that has a significant impact on the characters. The altercation occurs when a little girl falls off of a swing and her father accuses a young Mexican girl of pushing her. *[By making connections to the characters’ values in their speech and actions and repeating certain words or phrases to emphasize a point, Gary Soto explains that the way one should respond to prejudice is not by assuming the worst of people and fighting them; instead, one should try to help others, understand their point of view and values in order to prevent the negative effects of prejudice.] * *[One’s values and assumptions play a role in how that person responds to prejudice and can have an impact on how he or she views certain people. ]

According to Judge Paul Health Till of Sidney, Texas other words that bring to his attention the culture of the South are manners, morals, customs and public opinions. Why so? In his essay Manners, Morals, Customs, and Public Perception (July 2001), Judge Till states “Manners and morals and customs make up the public perception of any culture” (paragraph two) and how these four key ideas relate to each other.
Joe Starkey, the narrator, begins his tribute to the Cal-Stanford, 1982 game by acknowledging the practically unwinnable stance of the Bears, "And now, the bears in a seemingly impossible situation. " (191). He builds and illusion around the facts of the game as he analyzes the field and the play of the ball. Implying that the unlikelihood that the Bears will win, "It 's unlikely that Ford can get the ball and get out of bounds far enough upfield," (191) Starkey postpones his conclusion until after the drop of the ball. His intention, after all, is to inform about the current state of the game.
After reading the book The Other Wes Moore many themes seem to nudge at you to realize many things that happen that you might not notice in everyday life. One of the life lessons that really plays a role in my life is loss, faith, and redemption. Loss. This word can mean different things depending on the person and their experiences. Loss might mean an event that causes immoderate feelings of despondency.

On January 8th, 1935 one of the greatest influences to pop and country was born. Elvis Aaron Presley changed the way people heard and saw music through his songs and the way he performed them. Elvis’ music was stunning, he had eighteen American No. 1s and hundreds of gold records from around the world. He brought a way of performing that people had never experienced before, he was electrifying when he performed on stage. Elvis Presley was the first rock'n'roll star, he brought rebellion to the youth of that time and was able to grasp the listener and draw them into his songs which few artist have ever been able to accomplish.
One way Elvis Presley propelled himself into superstardom was his mix of blues, R&B, country, and rockabilly. Although some adults of the generation found this music to be too dangerous for the mainstream, many teenages of the day found this new music to be very exciting and electrifying. Elvis Presley was born January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi to Gladys Smith Presley and Vernon Presley. Elvis was supposed to be a twin, but his brother, Jesse Garon Presley, was stillborn. His parents were part of the working class but made very little money; as a child, Elvis moved frequently due to his parents looking for jobs. Elvis’ father worked odd jobs and was once sentenced in 1938 to three years in prison for forging a four dollar check, but he stayed less than a year (Nix). After moving numerous times, the Presley family settled in Memphis, Tennessee, where the birth of Elvis’ career would take place.
In the short story, “Seventh Grade,” by Gary Soto, the author pokes fun at the seventh grade boys in the beginning of a school year. The main characters are Victor, Michael, Mr. Bueller, and Teresa, a girl Victor has a crush on. In the end, Victor learns that is it is always best to be himself. The author describes how Victor attempts to impress his dream girlfriend, Teresa.
Elvis Presley has had more impact on American society and culture than any other person in history for the three following reasons; his large contribution to the start of the generation gap in the 1950’s, his huge impact on rock ‘n’ roll music, and finally, his music opened a door for some integration between races. First of all, in the 1950’s Elvis Presley and his music started the era of the generation gap between teenagers and their parents, an era which is still going on today. With Elvis being very young, attractive and his new type of music and dancing, teenage girls fell head over heels for the young star. Most parents though, did not feel the same way about Presley. He was often described a vulgar and many accused him of corrupting the youth.
