This is because it bears numerous valuable themes, and its structure and language are exceptional. The atmosphere that doesn’t endorse equity in concert with the female protagonists challenging these societal boundaries is why The Great Gatsby fits into the feminist lens. There was nothing tantamount in the text in terms of how effective it was in providing understanding to the reader of the theme. Although many different themes can be extracted from The Great Gatsby, the one that resonates most with me is the shallowness of the upper class. This theme allows the reader to absorb the insight that money and socio-economic status don’t result in happiness, a belief held not only in the past but also in current-day society. It’s evident in the book that Gatsby has all of these riches and extravagant things, yet he isn’t happy as he doesn’t have Daisy’s love. A song that reinforces this theme is Beautiful People by Ed Sheeran. Essentially, this song is about Ed Sheeran’s fear of falling into the traps of materialism, fixation with appearances, and all things shallow and empty.
