Sexuality has always been oppressed by government institutions who agree only with heterosexuality. They oppress with all these laws and campaigns. Some of these laws deny the basic needs to survive like affordable housing and healthcare. Disobey these law result in punishment such as receiving "less funds". Chris Christie the governor of New Jersey introduced in the 10 percent problem would not agree with same sex marriage. His state has a population of "3.9% " L.G.B.T community members. In Alabama they treat this situation by firing people who identify as gay or lesbian. This is called the no promo homo law , where gay/lesbians are denied jobs, housing, and health care. This type of marriage is seen as acceptable because they believe it is a better future for the children. On the other hand, gay marriage is seen as a sin and it is impossible to properly raise a child. The result would be that homosexuals will not marry because they are forbidden to do so. Government just cares about their increase in population rather than the happiness of its citizens. Another institution that regulates sexuality is education. In the article first nation, queer and education, the author runner talks about how he went into Christian school to realize he was going to hell for being gay. He prayed for himself to get forgiveness and to get accepted for who he is. The education system teaches us from elementary to middle school that liking the same sex is something wrong and that god will not love us anymore. Since then we criticize people and make them feel less just because they love someone else. We see them with a "European oppressive " view because our education is influenced by europeans ideas. For this reason everyone believes heterosexual is the best way to succeed in life, and that homosexual will cause a lot of inconvenience.
