Gender Binary Acceptance of something new is always horrifying. People seem to forget that the very first communities were built and based on discoveries which in the first place were unknown to mankind. After years and years of civilization, people are still confused of how to react properly to uncommon or new phenomena; normally, one will simply ignore or fight against it. Zie stands here for a gender-neutral pronoun. Zie was first identified as a female. So, as a female zie always wished to get big breasts and a big butt which zie eventually obtained. Zie strived to impress guys because if she is not hot, she will be the outcast. Zie also mentioned to be called a Tomboy because zie later wanted to be a boy. Thus, zie tried to dress up like one and took testosterones resulting in a manlier appearance, which still didn’t satisfy zie. Zie noted to be in a higher state of happiness after discontinuation of the hormones. Zie also talks about zir childhood and most importantly zir school time. Furthermore, zie clarifies that people could not accept zie as what zie is. They insisted on assigning a specific gender to zie which was a painful experience due to a lacking sense of belonging to any of the two common genders. English lacks official gender-neutral pronouns. Bullying genderqueers is a considerable issue in the world. In some cultures, they are accepted, but in others genderqueer are ignored and not at all recognized as humans. An example for an accepting culture are the Hijiras, a social group living in Asia and who in some countries are officially recognized as a third gender. According to the BBC News, some universities in the U.S.A invented new pronouns for people who are neither male nor female. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee was one of the universities which introduced gender-neutral pronouns which is admirable. The problem is that people do not use them because they are not at all common and accepted by people. In addition, even some students refuse to use them.
