The bar scene shows how to different SES communities may clash yet have similarities. One similarity is they both groups feel that their “manhood” is being challenged when they are arguing in front of the women at the bar. They have this in common, neither groups wants to be humiliated because of that reason. Will’s friend assumes that there’d be some arrhythmic on the walls of the bar and the Harvard student assumes that Will’s friend doesn’t know much about history. When Will intervenes and challenges the assumptions. Both the group from the low SES community and the high SES community’s assumptions are not actually true. In the scenes with Will and Skylar, Will is the one making most of the assumptions. First he assumes that Skylar only sees him as a fling and would only marry someone in the same social class as herself. While will is the exception in his group of friends because he is so knowledgeable it will still be hard for him to assimilate to a group of high SES because of the assumptions them make and how they are looked down on. I would be hard for someone to navigate a socioeconomic status that they don’t identify with, but doing this would be significantly harder for someone of low SES. I don’t believe people of high SES are likely to be leaders and campaign for intervention methods that will help low SES communities. Mainly because they may feel that since they acquired success, whether inherited or earned, therefore anyone can. The stressors in low SES communities can take their toll on individuals. Will being a prime example of that. While having a people of high SES be supports of these interventions I don’t think many would hop on
