The infamous gap in education, which is a separation of both genders - the males and the females- is built upon a set of ideas that were constructed overtime by the society which we live in. This gap in the education system is an issue, which has not yet been resolved in many countries around the world. Even though women have demonstrated that they are capable of performing just as well as their male peers they are being discriminated against within their education systems. To be able to provide equal education services to women, people would need to change their own mindset by educating themselves and the future generations through elaborate programs that spread awareness about the education of women. There are around 62 percent of the girls in Pakistan who currently do not attend school and would never attend school. Zainab Muskan, a sixteen-year-old female student, strives for a higher education as she wants to become a doctor. Luckily, for her, her goal is being supported by her parents who are open to her and don't have the typical mindset of the people of her area in Pakistan. (Educating Pakistan's Women) Not everyone in these countries think this way. In Afghanistan, a recent case in 2012 sprout in which a teenage girl was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen just because she wanted a equality in education for women. Her name was Malala Yousafzai. She explained that "[she] didn't want [her] future to be imprisoned in four walls and just cooking and giving birth" and wanted the same for every single women in her country. (Husain) These girls are restrained from school lessons by the socialistic ideas which discriminate girls in education. The ideas that obstruct women as such are things like son preference of the family and societal expectations for women to become caregivers in the household. Though we cannot force our own views upon others, we can be sure that the education through programs and lectures of the importance of education for women will give a new perspective toward their own views about education.
Gender inequality in the education field is an issue which can be resolved if we allow changes to occur. Spreading our knowledge to these countries ruled by ignorance, where women strive for a higher education, and where gender inequality still exists to this day, is the way to achieve societal changes. We have the chance to contribute to the change by granting money to organizations that serve to achieve gender equality. We are the change they need to gain equality in
