The short story written by Jamaica Kincaid titled "Girl" is about a mother giving many instructions to her daughter on nearly every topic, such as how to treat others, how to clean this, how to do that, and etc. But unlike our modern day culture, the story is set in a place with heavy gender stereotypes, in which women work in the house taking care of their husbands. Obviously, the gender roles are very sexist and women are put in a position where they are below men.
