Lance Armstrong was an amazing athlete, He won 7 Tour De France Medals. Lance had all 7 medals stripped because he was caught using EPO ( Erythropoietin) EPO can stimulates the bone marrow to produce more red cells and increase oxygen to the muscles. Gene Doping has many issues, it makes the game or sport unfair, dangerous, and expensive. Gene Doping should not be allowed to be used for enhancing athletic performances. Gene doping would violate the cornerstone of sports, the fairness. Gene doping would make any mental or skill factor insignificant and an unfair advantage. Gene doping is against the rules in many sports, In 2003, WADA put gene doping on its prohibited list. Some athletes would get in before others, making it a race for it. …show more content…

Gene Doping in sports would only further increase expenses for training, making athletes pay more to train. In a 2018 study gene doping could range from 200,000 to 1,000,000 dollars on price. Gene Doping is very expensive to have, it cost up to 1,000,000 dollars. Gene Doping is not worth the cost or the danger. Gene Doping is very dangerous, it can increase the chances of extraordinary Hematocrit, strokes, and Heart Attacks. When two men injected EPO into a monkey, The host cells ended up creating so many red blood cells that the blood thickens to a deadly sludge. Jesse Gilsinger suffered from OTC deficiency, this was linked to a mutation from gene doping. Cancer, cancer could happen if a genetic modification turns on a cancer gene. Gene Doping has many reasons why it should not be allowed, it has many deadly causes that can affect your everyday life. Some would argue gene doping would allow athletes to maximize their physical performances. How every, gene doping can cause great cancer to your health, people who have taken EPO have had problems with strokes and Heart attacks.
