1. Although anxiety is a very broad term for many different disorders my main focus is generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). GAD is when a person is in an excessive and unnecessary state of panic for no particular reason. It affects their lives on a regular basis. Sometimes there are triggers, but at other times there is no specific cause. This condition can be caused by genetics, the environment or psychological factors and can develop at an early age. Sometimes it will last through adolescence and at others through adulthood making it a chronic illness.
2. Research has demonstrated an association between parents with anxiety disorders and children with behavioral inhibition. The tendency of anxiety to occur in families also has been established. Anxious parents may genetically predispose their children to anxiety, model anxious behavior, and behave and/ or parent in ways that encourage and maintain anxious behavior in the child. (Nutter, 2014) This can happen anywhere to anyone if they are living in the wrong environment.

Healthy environments and healthy diets; these are necessary for a child to avoid or ease anxiety. Under some circumstances, a family may be unable to purchase food and a lack of nutrition could have an extreme impact on a child's mental well-being. Therefore a safe and secure environment combined with a "diet rich in whole grains, vegetables, and fruits is a healthier option than eating a lot of simple carbohydrates found in processed foods.
