In this chapter, I will try not to bore you with Greek and Hebrew words as in the previous chapter so we will easily flow together because, this is the chapter with the main crux of the matter we are dealing with, which is, ‘what have you given in exchange for sex’.
First, let me bring your attention to what happened in the book of Genesis about Joseph. Chapter 37 starts the story of Joseph only to pause in chapter 38, and all through chapter 38, Joseph is not mentioned even for once. But as we move on to chapter 39, the story of Joseph continues. We shall, therefore, try to combine the three chapters in this page, which are 37, 38, 39, believing God for better understanding. Let us see Genesis 38:1, which says: “And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah”. Also, Genesis 39:1, says: “And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him off the hands of the Ishmaelite, which had brought him down there”.
We shall take time here to study about men who at one time or the other for personal reason went down on their own accord, what happen thereafter and how did they end up? These men like the ones listed above that offended God in area of sex, ignored one major powerful scriptural principle, “STEADFASTNESS”.
