“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 and in the beginning of the book of Genesis we are introduced to two very important people, that forever change the history of the world. Throughout the first chapters of Genesis, we are given the explanations of how God created the world. On the sixth day of God’s creation he introduced to the world man and women. The man and woman that God created were Adam and Eve. Through the appearance of Adam and Eve we learned that God created them in his image and gave them ordinances to follow, however, they disobeyed Him, which led to the corrupt world we live in. First God created Adam, He then realized that man needed a companion, so God created Eve. Adam was created out of dust from the soil and was given life from God’s breath into his body (Genesis 2:7). After God created Adam, God created Eve out of existing material to be Adam’s wife. To form the union of man and women, God created Eve from Adam’s rib (Interpreter’s bible p353). Adam and Eve are unique compared to other elements of creation due to the fact that God intimately made them. When God gave Adam the breath of live, He gave Adam a soul, which explains what the Bible refers to when it states that Adam was created in the image of God. Also, as stated in The New Interrupters Bible, when God uses the language, “let Us” it refers to an image of God as a consultant of other divine beings; the creation of humankind results from a dialogue act, an inner divine communication rather than an inner divine monological one. As well as the “let Us make” which implicitly extends to human beings, as they are created in the image of One who chooses to create in a way that shares powers through others (Interpreters bible).
