The Pentateuch is the first five books in the Old Testament. It consists of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The first five books set the foundation and for the rest of the Bible. It is important to have a better understanding with these first five books in the Bible because it contains the history, genealogy, God’s power, and his creation. Not only does it help us understand the Old Testament but also the New Testament. I will be going more in depth on the first book of the Old Testament, Genesis.

From the very first sentence we are introduced to his ability and devotion to create. Not only does he bring earth to life, he also created us from scratch. When I read the book of Genesis, my heart was filled with amazement, joy, and gratification. The reader can feel the satisfaction God felt as he brought life to the world. Secondly, He provided to his people. He provided Eve to Adam so he wouldn’t be alone and fruit so they weren’t left with no food. Not only does he provide us tangible items, but also his forgiveness and unconditional love. Lastly, God is shown as a loving father. He took his time to create all his children in a special way. God chose a man name Abraham to lead his plan to undo sin and evil. God called Abraham to serve. Not only did He love him, but everyone as well. God’s love was expressed through Abraham’s work and family. He helped Abraham's family by giving them a son to help create the nation of Israel. Also a covenant was created which is like a sign contract between Abraham and God. God created the covenant for it to be personal, unique, and holy. The last half of Genesis, character traits that were reveal through God was grace and faith. For example, God chose Abraham because of his grace.
