As soon as President Bush announced that he had nominated Clarence Thomas as the next Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, a law professor named Anita Hill submitted a confidential statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee alleging that Thomas had sexually harassed her a decade ago and two days
Is Watt justified in his recommending Ann's dismissal? Why or why not? Watt must allow Ann a procedural due process before dismissing her for her actions, "meaning that the state may not deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law" (Essex, 2012, p. 203). Watt must also assure that both procedural and substantive requirements are met before dismissing Ann.
The Pennsylvania State University Jerry Sandusky Child Molestation case shed light on to a long line of horrific acts of sexual abuse and corruption within college football. Jerry Sandusky was an assistant football coach alongside the iconic football coach, Joe Paterno. While Sandusky was not brought to trial until 2012, reports of Sandusky sexually molesting football players and young boys date back to 1994 (Chappell, 2012). This was not through lack of acknowledgement; many of Sandusky’s victims came forwarded and reported the assaults to campus police, the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, head coach Joe Paterno, the senior Vice President, and the Penn State Athletic Director. Penn State’s blatant cover up of abuse allegations is worrisome and cannot be tolerated.

One in five women and one in sixteen men are sexually assaulted while in college. 63% of sexual assaults are not reported to police and only about 2 to 10% of reports are found to be false. In Jon Krakauer’s book: Missoula, Rape and the Justice System in a College Town. Krakauer focuses on the many rapes that occur on the college campus in Missoula. Most of the rapes that happen on college campuses are done by men, but to say all men are rapists is unjust and sexist.
The Brutal Taking of One's Peace Fredrick Douglas stated in his narrative, “No man can put a chain about the ankle of his fellow man without at last finding the other end around his own neck”. This darkening illustration of the taking of not only taking the slaves freedom, but taking their “masters” freedom in the process shows just how sick, and twisted slavery had to be to change everyone involved. Harriet Jacobs, a former slave, had similar views to the horrendous changing of each individual. Stating “Yet few slaveholders seem to be aware of the widespread moral ruin occasioned by this wicked system. Their talk is of blighted cotton crops--not of the blight on their children's souls.”
and “I am the only person to blame.” There was also a great deal of sorrow that was spilled. When talking about the effect the situation had on his wife, Woods mentioned, “Ellie and I have begun discussing the damage caused by my behavior.” It is very hard for someone to damage a relationship and then recover and make things right again. The praise that Woods was giving out was not praise that you dish out after an accomplishment.
In Zoë Heller’s Rape on the Campus, She advocates how sexual assault happens often on campuses, and that it needs to be significantly more addressed; as it is scarce for women to bring the college’s attention to the assault. Heller asserts that, “20 percent of women are sexually assaulted during their time at college and as few as 5 percent of these assaults are ever reported to police” (185). Noting that ninety-five percent of sexual assault cases are dealt by the college, colleges can take advantage and handle its reputation by outputting false information to cover any potential negative reputation. While colleges are forced to obey the rules of title IX, I believe this is an inadequate effort to remove bias teachers and workers from colleges.
On the contrary, despite being ripped off by his own father, Geoffrey admitted “as I dislike him more and more, I became more and more like him” (10). To put it differently, Geoffrey felt trapped. The person he despised the most, was the person he was
In Jacoba Urist’s “The Art and Science of Apologizing” which was published in The Atlantic in 2016, he talks about what is the best way to make an apology perfect. There are many factors that people don’t think about when they are about to apology, which includes: the moment in which they are going to apologize, repetition, and making sure the person you are apologizing to actually accepts the apology. After reading Urist’s essay and then going to read Harvey Weinstein’s apology that he wrote after being accused of sexual harassment against multiple women, which was published in The New York Times, one could see the significant differences that Weinstein’s apology should be like as compared to how Urist says one should be. Weinstein’s apology has more weaknesses than it does strengths and the many problems, which includes apologizing too early, not acknowledging the women that were assaulted and not showing responsibility and remorse are all wrong according to Urist’s paper on how an apology should sound. Al of these issues causes Weinstein’s apology to be a sad attempt of an apology that will not be accepted by society.
Colleges are protecting their public record and do not wish to affect their brand be publicly admitting the high rates of sexual assaults. The documentary focused on a student attending Harvard Law School and the administrators insisted that the female victim should remain silent and avoid spreading the incident around. They asked questions such as, "Did you give him the wrong message, why did you choose not to fight back". Victim blaming is presented when the administrators are more interested in what the victim did wrong rather than what the offender's actions
James Franco has been accused of sexually exploitative behavior by 5 different women. These women were taking acting classes In Studio 4 an acting and film school run by James Franco and also other classes he taught like UCLA, USC, CalArts and NYU. Majority of the incidents happened during nudity scenes that the women were chosen to be in with Franco. The official theory I would be testing is that everyone likes to believe that James Franco is guilty. But how sure can they be?

Sexual assault can either be verbal, physical or visual. Joan Van Niekers cited a recent report by the Human Sciences Research Council which revealed that 34% of learners experienced sexual harassment and other 14% were sexually harassed by teachers , therefore this clearly illustrates that sexual assault take place amongst learners in schools is somehow beyond control and happens in many occasions. In this essay, three causes of sexual assault
Sexual Harassment on College Campuses People tend to think that sexual harassment and rape are the same thing. However, that is not always the case. According to Dictionary, the definition of sexual harassment is “uninvited and unwelcome verbal or physical behaviour of a sexual nature especially by a person in authority toward a subordinate.” Forced kissing, groping, or even looking at someone the wrong way is considered to be sexual harassment.
