Geographic Similarities Between Peru And The United States

The United States is in the northern hemisphere and Peru is in the southern hemisphere. Not only are they in different hemispheres but they are hugely different sizes. The U.S. is 9,833,517 km2 dwarfing Peru, which is at 1, 285, 261 km2. Their populations per km2 are fairly close but that’s because Peru is smaller, however the total populations are vastly different with the U.S. being 321 million and Peru’s at 31.4 million. Peru and The United States are definitely very different places but they do have a number of geographic similarities.

As far as climate goes, it varies widely in both countries Peru is tropical in the East and the US is tropical mainly in the South, in places like Florida and Hawaii. The two share only one common natural recource which is copper. They both use some of their land for agricultural purposes and each has forested land. For example they each have renewable water sources but the US (3,069 km3) has far more than Peru (1,913 km3). Their elevations are different, for example the average in the US is 760 m and in Peru it is 1,555 m. Peru reaches 6,768 m and the lowest is 0 at the pacific ocean. The US reaches its peak at 6,190 m and its lowest at -86 m. The US has a much larger area than Peru, the United States’s total area is 9,833,517 km2 and Perus total is 1,279,996 km2. Although some of their climates are similar there are differences as well, foe example the US has arctic areas while Peru has desert. The land use is similar but how much is used for the things isn’t nearly different. The US uses 44.5% of the land for agricultural things wheras Peru uses 18.8% of its land for Ag. The United States is bordered by only 2 countries, Mexico and Canada, but Peru is bordered by 5, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, and
